Floral tributes had been set by H. H. Baron de Warzee, the Beligan (sic) Minister, and Baroneas de Warzee, Mr. and Mrs. A. van Custem, the Tientsin Tramway Compagny, Mr. and Mrs. Yang Tien Lee, Mr. and Mrs. Pasqualini, Mr. and Mrs Arnoult, Mr. Ting, Mr. Wang Tsai Nan, Mr. Tsang Yao Ting, Mr. and Mrs. Emil Fischer, J. de Chargas of the Portuguese Legation, and Mme de Chargas, Mr. and Mrs. T.A.S. Cameron, and Miss Cameron, Messrs. Ching and Tchoo, Mr. and Mrs. Ting Tsi, and Mrs. Amouroux.

The late Mr. Splingaerd was for many years a resident in China. He died in the French Hospital, at 7 o’clock mast Sunday morning, at the age of 52 years. He is survived by a wife and nine children, also two brothers, Messrs. Alphonse and John Splingaerd, and eight sisters.

Four of the sisters are nuns of the order of Sisters of Charity, three being in Shanghai and one in San Francisco.

The late Mr. Splingaerd was employed many years ago as interpreter at the Thangshan Mines, in this province at the time when President Hoover of the United States was chief engineer there, being employed afterwards in the Lincheng Mines, and later in Honan Mines for several years. For the past five years he had been living in retirement in Peiping.

The father of the late Mr. Splingaerd, Mr. Paul Splingaerd, was formerly in the service of the Chinese Government in a prominent position during the Ching Dynasty, and always wore Chinese dress.

He was entitled to wear the red button with the peacock feather, and was such an authority on affairs in North-west China, where he brought up his family in Launchowfu, Kansu, that he was chosen as escort for the late Herr von Richhoffen (sic) during that eminent scientist’s geological explorations.

The late Mr. Renny Splingaerd was always of a very retiring disposition, making many friends on account of his quiet and likeable ways. Much sympathy is felt for the widow, the fatherless children and all other relatives. – The Leader.

Pékin, Mars 4 .- Les funérailles de M. Renny Splingaerd a été suivi par un concours de parents et d'amis d'hier. Le Révérend Père Kavenah officiait à la messe à la rue de la Légation à l’église St. Michel Church, à 11 h et aussi sur la tombe au cimetière de Chal-la.
Les tributs floraux avait été fixés par HH le Baron de Warzee, le ministre Belge, et la baronne de Warzee, M. et Mme A. van Custem, la Compagnie deTramway de Tientsin, M. et Mme Yang Lee Tien, M. et Mme Pasqualini, M. et Mme Arnoult, M. Ting Ting Yao, M. Wang Nan Tsai, M. Tsang, M. et Mme Emile Fischer, J. de Chargas de la légation du Portugal, et Mme de Chargas, M. et Mme TAS Cameron, et Miss Cameron, MM Ching et Tchou, M. et Mme Tsi Ting, et Mme Amouroux.

Le regretté M. Splingaerd a été pendant de nombreuses années un résident en Chine. Il est mort à l'hôpital français, à 7 heures dimanche matin, à l'âge de 52 ans. Il laisse dans le deuil une femme et neuf enfants, ainsi que deux frères, MM Alphonse et John Splingaerd, et huit sœurs.
Quatre des sœurs religieuses de l'Ordre des Sœurs de la Charité (sic), trois étant à Shanghai et une à San Francisco.
Le regretté M. Splingaerd était employé depuis de nombreuses années comme interprète à la Thangshan Mines, dans cette province au moment où le président Hoover des États-Unis a été ingénieur en chef, après être employé dans les mines de Lincheng, et plus tard dans les mines d’Honan pour plusieurs années. Au cours des cinq dernières années, il avait pris sa retraite à Pékin.

Le père de feu Mr. Splingaerd, M. Paul Splingaerd, a été autrefois au service du gouvernement chinois dans une position de premier plan au cours de la dynastie Ching, et portait toujours la robe chinoise.

Il avait le droit de porter le bouton rouge et la plume de paon, et eut une telle autorité sur les affaires dans le nord-ouest de la Chine, où il a élevé sa famille à Launchowfu, Kansu, qu'il fut choisi comme escorte pour feu Herr von Richhoffen (sic) lors des explorations géologiques de cet éminent scientifique.
Le regretté M. Renny Splingaerd a toujours été d'un caractère très tranquille, faisant de nombreux amis en raison de ses manières calmes et sympathiques. Beaucoup de sympathie se fait sentir pour la veuve, les orphelins et tous les autres parents. - Le leader.
